NEW YORK — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is rolling out a new baby, a baby bear, as part of his campaign to “Make New York Great Again.”
“This baby bear will be part of our campaign to Make New York Again and I can’t wait to get it in the streets,” de Blasio said in a video announcing the mascot on Wednesday.
“He’ll be a symbol of New York, a symbol that’s very American and very New York,” deBlasio added.
The mascot is a hybrid of an older black bear and a baby grizzly bear that was named after former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who died of lung cancer earlier this year.
He had a beard.
The mayor’s team plans to release more information about the mascot’s appearance and the name on Thursday.
